What Does "Clean Beauty" Really Means?

When it comes to clean beauty products, there is a lot of confusion about what, exactly, that term means. For some people, it indicates that a product is made with plant-based ingredients. For others, it means that a product is free of synthetic ingredients and fragrances. And still for others, it simply indicates that a product has not been tested on animals. The truth is, there is no one definition of clean beauty. However, there are certain ingredients and practices that are generally considered to be part of the clean beauty movement. These include using plant-based ingredients, avoiding synthetic ingredients and fragrances, and choosing products that have not been tested on animals.

At Botanical Republic, we use plant-based ingredients on all of our products. Zero synthetic and harsh chemicals are used.

As the clean beauty movement continues to grow, it is likely that more people will begin to adopt these practices. And as more products become available that meet these criteria, it will become easier for consumers to find and purchase clean beauty products. The term "clean beauty" has become more of a marketing gimmick than a meaningful designation in recent years. While the term originally referred to products made with plant-based ingredients and/or safe ingredients, it has since been co-opted to include products with synthetic ingredients and even synthetic fragrance.

As a result, the term "clean beauty" is now used to describe a wide range of products, making it difficult for consumers to know what they are actually buying. In order to make an informed decision, it is important to read the ingredient list on beauty products before purchase. By doing so, you can ensure that you are getting the product that best meets your needs.

We use a small amount of certified organic essential oils as fragrance.

When it comes to fragrance, essential oils are a popular choice for many brands. Unlike synthetic fragrances, essential oils are derived from natural sources and offer a range of benefits, from alleviating stress to improving focus. However, it's important to note that not all essential oils are created equal. Some people may be allergic to specific oils, and the percentage of essential oils used in a formulation can also vary. For example, a brand may use a high percentage of essential oils in their product, while another may use a lower percentage.

It's always important to do your research before purchasing any product that uses essential oils as the main fragrance. By doing so, you can help ensure that you're getting the best possible product for your needs. If a brand is labeling their products as "clean beauty" then they should be transparent about the ingredients used.
